Anthony Martial has been pictured back in first-team training after injury. Again.

Well, here we are yet again… Anthony Martial has been consistently dealing with injuries this season, completely derailing his 2022/23 campaign.

The Frenchman looked electric during pre-season tour, scoring, assisting, playmaking. However, that has been as good as it has gotten for United’s number nine under Erik ten Hag.

Martial makes his return. Plays well for a half. Then goes missing for the next six weeks. Rinse and repeat. No doubt the gaffer is losing faith in his main striker. No doubt that patience is wearing thin…

Well, United have been handed the welcome boost of the star spotted back in first-team training yet again here. You’d love to believe that the worst is now behind him, though at this point, who knows…?

Martial is highly unlikely to feature against Betis tonight. Ten Hag said as much when discussing United’s injury situation in his latest pre-match presser.

This time, United have to approach the situation with caution. Give Martial all the time he needs to get as close to 100% as possible before being back out on the pitch.

Purely so Ten Hag can gauge whether Martial has what it takes to play in this system in the long term. Going into the summer, it’s now or never for Tony…

I’d like to think that with his back firmly against the wall, Martial will fight through any small niggles and begin to prove his worth. We could certainly use his quality as United look to secure a top-four finish, while also looking to win another trophy or two…
