The summer was undoubtedly an extremely long one for Anthony Martial.
After failing to secure a move away from Old Trafford, the Frenchman hasn’t sulked, nor moaned. Instead, the former AS Monaco man has gotten on with the task at hand.
Against Young Boys this evening, the 22-year-old completed his first 90-minute match since making it public knowledge that he wanted to leave.
Manchester United’s #11 scored the third and final goal on the evening; which wrapped up all three points for the visitors. It was what happened after full-time that stole all the headlines, though.

Martial was the last player to leave the pitch, as he spent a significant amount of time celebrating with the Old Trafford faithful, who were constantly singing his name.
To have such backing after declaring his intentions to leave is immense credit to his ability, character and integrity. The fans will love him, whatever happens, they always will.
There is something special about this football club in these sort of situations. We’re lucky in the regard that our fan base is extremely special. Who knows, this may well persuade Martial to tough it out at Manchester United. It really was a special moment.
