Picture: Anthony Martial spotted back in training ahead of Liverpool match

Anthony Martial has been pictured back in Man United training.

Manchester United Football Club have had a truly dismal start to the season. I’d argue it’s the worst ever in my lifetime, while the transfer business conducted has also been slow.

The absence of Anthony Martial has also been felt. The Frenchman was probably the standout performer in pre-season. His movement, hold-up play and connection with both Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho is there for all to see. Sadly, neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Christian Eriksen could fill that void.

Yesterday, Erik ten Hag confirmed that the former AS Monaco man was back in training, giving us all some optimism about his availability for the Monday game against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Now, @ManUtd have shared a picture of the key star back out there in training, giving United fans a further lift.

I guess now a decision has to be made as to whether Martial is fit enough to start and give his club enough minutes to justify his position in the line-up.

The Frenchman was absent from training for at least a fortnight, though he did play in four pre-season matches before going down with an injury.

I think it’ll be a tough call for Ten Hag, though in the end, I believe you have to give Martial the opportunity. United’s attack has looked extraordinarily frail without the number 9, so it makes sense to take the risk.

Even if you can get an hour out of Martial, I still think it’d be worth it.

The other big call is who do you drop? Ronaldo would not be happy if he’s removed from the XI for the biggest game of the campaign, but again, I think that’s exactly what has to happen.
