Manchester United Football Club takes on Saint-Etienne tomorrow evening, in a match that should see us progress into the last sixteen of the Europa League. Ahead of that game, we’ve been given a major boost as Wayne Rooney has been pictured back in training.
This picture comes just a day after Sky Sports News suggested that the forward is facing a race against time to be fit for the EFL Cup final this coming Sunday.
With our congested fixture list due to the fact that we’re still battling it out in four different competitions, we need as many bodies available as physically possible, and to have a game-changer like Rooney ready to play can only help us.
Have a look at the snap of Rooney back in action here:
Despite the fact that our club captain is back in training, he will not be travelling with the squad to face off against the French side. This is most likely due to the Europa League final being on the horizon, and obviously, we’d much prefer him to be ready to take part in that fixture instead.
At the end of the day, Manchester United are sitting comfortable with a 3-0 lead from the first leg, so it’s not really worth the risk for the 31-year-old attacker. I’d imagine Jose Mourinho is happier leaving him at home, giving him an extra couple of days to try and recover.
