Manchester United’s interest in Bruno Fernandes is well documented. The latest story we covered on the future of the Portuguese came from Sky Sports News, who confirmed the Red Devils’ interest – while adding he could cost in excess of £50million.
As we gear up for the start of the 2019/20 campaign, both United and Sporting Lisbon will want Fernandes’ future sorted sooner rather than later.
Well today, the 24-year-old arrived for pre-season training with Sporting, as he looks to begin to work on those all-important fitness levels before the real action begins.
The photos below come from the official Sporting account, and to me, this suggests that nothing is imminent in regards to a potential transfer away from the Primeira Liga.
With United losing both Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera over the last six months, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs at least one new midfield recruit.
It definitely feels to me as though Fernandes has been eyed as that man, but you get the impression this ‘saga’ could drag on for a little while yet.
Fernandes’ credentials speak for themself. He directly contributed to 50(!) goals in the 2018/19 season, scoring 32 and assisting 18.
My main concern comes with the fact that his Serie A stats aren’t anywhere near as impressive as his ones in the Primeira Liga. Perhaps the Portuguese league is his level, but I’m happy to be proven wrong…
