Since last summer, Manchester United fans have been clamouring for the Red Devils to sign Bruno Fernandes.
The prolific Portuguese had been in stunning form for Sporting Lisbon and eventually, the 20-time Premier League champions would make their move and get the deal done.
Fernandes would make his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers last week, putting in a pretty good performance, although we know he can do better. In time, I don’t doubt he’ll produce the goods at an extremely high level.
Next up for Fernandes and United is a game against Chelsea. Before that, though, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been putting his players through their paces in some warm-weather training over in Marbella.
Fernandes, with his newly-verified Twitter account, posted a photo of himself putting in the work, while also sending a positive message to the fans.
I don’t doubt that Fernandes’ effort-levels are setting an example during these training sessions. However, what’s most important is that he’ll be building a bond with his new teammates.
Fernandes needs to become almost telepathic with the players in and around him. Their creativity and mind needs to be on the same wavelength and this fortnight break gives the whole squad some time to make that connection.
I remain firm in my belief that we won’t see the best from Fernandes until next season, though we should see glimpses of his insane abilities this term. Hopefully, we see them on full display against Chelsea this weekend.
