PICTURE: Darren Fletcher poses with his new jersey after leaving Man Utd

Manchester United’s transfer deadline day was mostly busy with outgoing activity, as Wilfried Zaha, Marnick Vermijl and finally Darren Fletcher left Old Trafford permanently. The latter gave his all for this club, but wanted a new challenge as he struggled for playing time under Louis van Gaal.

After suffering an illness a couple of seasons ago, many thought Fletcher’s career was done and dusted. The fact that he came back and still manages to play at the highest level sums up his character and mindset perfectly. He’s a winner, and he’ll always be remembered fondly by Manchester United fans.

Hopefully it all goes well for him at West Brom, and he should be able to acquire the playing time he so desperately requires at this stage of his career.

All the best Darren, and thanks for the memories!
