Picture: David de Gea wins Manchester United Player of the Year award

Manchester United’s annual club awards evening took place last night, with the final award naming the Player of the Year. Once again, for the third consecutive season, David de Gea was voted the best player at Manchester United Football Club – and rightly so.

From looking like we were going to lose our star man back in September, David de Gea has been nothing short of sensational since his return to the first-team fold.

The Spaniard has made outstanding save after outstanding save, and it makes you wonder just how far away we’d be if we didn’t have him in between the sticks.

To win it three years in a row as a goalkeeper is credit to just how good David de Gea is, its normally a rarity for a #1 to win it at all.

Now attentions must, once again, turn to keeping hold of David de Gea beyond this summer. That task will be made much harder without Champions League football on offer, but the ball is firmly in United’s court as he is tied down to a new long-term contract.

Congratulations, David!
