Picture: Dean Henderson all-smiles after winning Golden Glove award

Manchester United’s season has been a disappointing one. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is struggling to find positives that he can carry forward from and build upon going into next season.

Amongst the few pluses is Dean Henderson’s excellent form for Sheffield United. The 22-year-old goalkeeper was an integral member of a Blades squad who earned Premier League promotion – the second time in two years Henderson has moved up a division while with a loan club.

This season was his best yet as a professional and it’s great to see the budding shot-stopper flourishing in the Football League. In the future, Henderson could well be in contention to earn the United starting job but right now he has to be pleased with his development.

His year ended on a high in front of his home fans, celebrating promotion while also being handed the Championship Golden Glove award – after keeping an impressive 21 clean sheets across a 46-game season.

As you’d imagine, the 22-year-old looked thrilled after winning the honour, in what seals his place as probably the best goalkeeper in the most competitive league in the world.

Going into next year, I’d love to see him playing in the Premier League with Sheffield United. It’d be another learning curve for Henderson and it’d give him a excellent platform to come back to United in twelve months time ready to challenge for the starting job.
