Manchester United have a habit of promoting youth through their excellent academy system at Old Trafford, as they continue to turn young talents into world class stars. Another man is about to get his big chance, as he gets given a week-long trial to impress.
Keith Groenveld, a 16-year old central defender who is a South African currently plying his trade out in Belgium with Antwerp – Manchester United’s feeder club.
The Manchester Evening News say that Groenveld began his trial today, and that was backed up on Twitter by journalist Joe Crann, as you can see from his tweet below.
This isn’t the first time the young man has trained at United, as a few years ago he was given the opportunity to train with United’s youth team for one day whilst he was still at Antwerp, but this time the pressure is on as he looks to secure himself a long-term deal at the Theatre of Dreams.

He’ll certainly be out to impress the youth coaches, including Nicky Butt and Warren Joyce, and Louis van Gaal will be keeping a watchful eye on the young man too.
