Diogo Dalot had to get stitches on his foot after suffering a nasty gash during Man United’s win over Aston Villa.

Manchester United Football Club booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round last night – though again, the performance was less than convincing.

Despite our offensive struggles, Ralf Rangnick has definitely improved United defensively. The clean sheets are now starting to flow with regularity – which is a good base to build on from.

Perhaps one reason behind that is Rangnick’s willingness to change up the full-backs. Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles have both looked better in recent weeks. Credit to them for that.

The Portuguese right-back was selected last night, though in the first half he went down with a nasty injury. There was blood seeping from the ankle at the time. However, Dalot would fight on and complete the match.

Warning: The photo below isn’t for the squeamish.

After the game, though, the United star would have to get stitches on the injury.

I’ll be honest, toughness isn’t a trait that I thought Dalot had but I’m happy for him to continue to prove me wrong. Sure, I’ll also admit I didn’t think the former FC Porto youngster would be good enough for this club – but he is.

Rangnick spotted it instantly, though. He blocked any outgoing transfer for Dalot no sooner had the German walked through the door.

The Jose Mourinho signing has added an attacking aspect to our right-hand side – which has been vital given how poorly the likes of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have played recently.

As things stand, I’d have Dalot as the first-choice right-back and he deserves massive credit for staying mentally tough. Long may that continue.

Get well soon, Diogo!
