Picture: Fernandes, Martial, Wan-Bissaka & Henderson all named in BBC’s Team of the Week

Manchester has been painted Red. Old Trafford was an absolute wall of noise throughout the game yesterday, with the fans roaring their beloved Red Devils on to a colossal three points.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves credit. He’s turned the future of this team around and right now, we’re fighting it out on several fronts while remaining in the race to land Champions League football for next season.

Anyway, let’s enjoy our derby day win a little longer, by taking a look at Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week. Four United players were included in the XI, but only three played in the Manchester derby. More on that later…

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was my Man of the Match yesterday. The job he did on Sterling was just outrageous. From first minute till last, the Spider kept his England compatriot quiet, which isn’t an easy thing to do.

Then you have Bruno Fernandes, whose quick-thinking set United on their way. Sure, Ederson should’ve done better with the opener, but you have to take any little bit of luck that comes your way. Fernandes pulled the strings throughout this one, carving out chances and trying to play positive football wherever possible.

Next up is Anthony Martial, who led the line wonderfully well. It wasn’t easy to keep concentrated given how much possession City had, but when United were on the counter, the Frenchman always looked hungry and threatening.

The fourth United player included was actually loanee Dean Henderson. The young shot-stopper made some ridiculous saves to preserve his clean-sheet at home to Norwich City. Could he now be a genuine contender for that #1 jersey next season…?
