Harry Maguire left Old Trafford with a heavily bandaged leg after going off in the first half with an injury.

Manchester United’s Champions League dream is over for another year, with the poor result compounded by a double injury blow. Both Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire succumbed to issues as the Reds lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich.

Erik ten Hag cut a disappointed figure post-match, just as you’d expect. The Dutchman is under increasing pressure at this stage of the season, though I still back him to get it right. Injuries certainly have played their part. It’s not an excuse when it’s a true fact.

Maguire had turned into arguably United’s best player over the last month or so. Losing him for any prolonged period of time would be pretty disastrous.

Well, after the game, the United star was pictured leaving Old Trafford with a heavily bandaged lower leag. It’s an odd one as at the time, it looked like he was dealing with a groin issue. Perhaps there’s more to the problem than meets the eye…

Being the warrior he is, Maguire actually tried to play on after suffering the injury, though his body just wouldn’t allow him to continue. Whether or not he made the issue worse by trying to carry on is another matter entirely…

We have some more huge games coming up, starting with Liverpool away this weekend. It goes without saying, we’d stand a better chance with the reigning Premier League Player of the Month available, so this one could be a tricky fixture to overcome.

I do worry that Ten Hag may be out of a job if United are on the wrong end of another Liverpool demolition job come Sunday evening…

Do you think there’s any way Harry Maguire will be fit enough to take on Liverpool? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
