There may well still be an outside chance that Harry Maguire is ready to play some part in the Europa League final…
Manchester United have definitely progressed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, though the best way to show that is by lining the trophy cabinet. With a huge Europa League final just on the horizon, the perfect opportunity is there.
It looked for all the world like captain Harry Maguire was a dead-cert to miss our showpiece game after suffering an ankle injury late in the season. However, we may have just been given a small dream of that possible happening…
While at the movie premiere of Sir Alex Ferguson’s ‘Never Give In’, the eagle-eyed guys over on Twitter spotted Maguire walking without crutches for the first time, offering United hope that he’s fit enough to play in our biggest game of the Solskjaer era.

With five days to go, Maguire will have to prove his fitness before he’s just thrown back into the starting line-up. However, he’s by far and away our best defender, so having the club captain available will be a massive lift to everyone involved.
Having spent the last couple of weeks in a protective boot while having to use crutches, you’d imagine it’ll take him a day or two to get used to walking without aid again – never mind kicking a football and playing in an intense, 90-minute game.
At this point, I’d still say it’s probably doubtful we see Maguire start, though I do feel more hopeful than I did a few days ago, that’s for sure.
