Lisandro Martinez looked made up when he was named Man of the Match for his performance vs Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United are halfway there. The Old Trafford club stuck three past Nottingham Forest away from home yesterday, leaving Erik ten Hag a happy man.
The game itself was tougher than the scoreline suggests. Nottingham Forest did put up a decent fight for large portions, with Johnson and Gibbs-White particularly impressive.
However, when they made it towards United’s goal, they had Lisandro Martinez to get past. The Butcher of Amsterdam was not in a forgiving mood. He was winning tackles galore, good in the air, solid on the ball and that all-round leader that United needed.
It’s rare for a defender to be named Man of the Match during a 3-0 victory, though last night, Licha deserved it. During the post-match interview, he looked made up with the trophy.

Honestly, I’ve just been so impressed with this man. I knew we were getting an upgrade at the centre-back position, but I genuinely didn’t think he’d be this good.
At first, in that game against Brentford, his height looked like a problem. However, since then, Martinez has been nigh-on perfect and it’s super easy to see why Ten Hag wanted to bring him in.
He’s just improved us in so many areas. His calmness on the ball, the ability to bring some aggression to our whole defence and his sheer winning mentality. It’s no surprise that United have been miles better defensively since his arrival. We’re very lucky to have him.
Congratulations, Licha!
