Louis van Gaal conducted his pre-match press conference as per usual today, but this time it was a little bit different. The Iron Tulip was in fine form just as you’d expect, given the proper amount of time to analyse the stats as he likes to do, he gave big Sam a reason to be quiet from here on out.
Big Sam labelled Manchester United a ‘long-ball team’ after the game between the two sides on Sunday – which first and foremost is a bit rich from the man who’s go-to player has gone from Kevin Davies to Andy Carroll.
Van Gaal admitted he ‘expected’ this question from the press today, so he came prepared with notes and said the following:
“Because I expected this question, I have made an interpretation of the data for this game and then I have to say that it is not a good interpretation from Big Sam,” said the Dutchman.
“You have to look at the data and then you will see that we did play long balls, but long balls wide rather than to the striker.”
