Manchester United have booked their place in the Carabao Cup final four, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men besting a Cheltenham side who were actually extremely well organised.
A two-legged tie against Manchester City awaits, with the Baby Faced Assassin now preparing to get one over on our noisy neighbours again…
Before that, though, there’s time for reflection and looking back on the positives. For their performances, a star United duo has been named in WhoScored’s Carabao Cup Team of the Round – and rightly so…
First up we have Harry Maguire. The Englishman was the best centre-back (statistically at least) in the quarter-finals, looking solid throughout and dealing with everything that came his way.
It feels as though Slabhead is settling into his role as United’s first-choice defender, with the club now having someone whom they can rely upon to get the job done and command the back four.
Then you have Marcus Rashford. The striker is in the form of his life right now, scoring goals for fun and wreaking havoc in the opponents’ penalty area. Against Colchester, the Wythenshawe-born-forward was as brilliant as ever and no doubt he’ll be looking to continue that form into the weekend.
Congratulations, fellas!
