Manchester United have handed a first professional contract to young midfielder Ethan Galbraith.
The club confirmed the 17-year-old’s deal earlier today, following an impressive season for Kieran McKenna’s title-winning U18 side.
Galbraith played fifteen times for the Red Devils’ youth team, putting in some brilliant performances against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City in some high-pressure games and situations.
Earning his first pro deal must feel like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders, and now it’s time for Galbraith to really kick on and make his push to move up into the U23 age group.
The talented midfielder will be feeling full of confidence now, following his 2017 move to United and scooping the U18 league title, but this is just the beginning of what he hopes will be a long and fruitful career.
We are delighted to announce that Under-18s midfielder @EthanGalbraith4 has signed his first professional contract with #MUFC. Congrats, Ethan!

The good thing for him is that United have always given youth a chance. No doubt Jose Mourinho will be keeping a watchful eye on Galbraith, eyeing him as a potential Red Devils regular in future years.
I guess he should be modelling himself on Scott McTominay. The 21-year-old has recently forced his way into the United senior team and he hasn’t really looked back since. Hopefully, we’ll see Galbraith on United’s pre-season tour within the next season or two.
