Manchester United could’ve received an excellent boost at the best possible time, with fears that Wayne Rooney could well be out for the rest of the season through injury. Robin van Persie has timed his comeback perfectly, and could well be involved this weekend.
The Dutchman has been sidelined for the last two months, but finally made his return to action this week. Yesterday he played for the club’s U21s team, and he made a typical return scoring two excellently taken goals.
For me Van Persie is already ahead of Radamel Falcao in the pecking order, and if news about Rooney’s injury is indeed true, then Robin has to play the remainder of the games up front alone in a 4-3-3.
When used in a lone striker system, Van Persie is deadly. Look at his last season for Arsenal and his first season for Manchester United when Wayne Rooney played just behind him, thats the best way to utilise his talents.
