Manchester United’s Robin van Persie has been missing for the last six weeks, and the 31-year old finally returned to training this week. However the Manchester derby is going to come just too quickly for the Dutchman to be available for selection.
Having a rather poor record with injury, coupled with his prolonged absence on the sidelines, Louis van Gaal has confirmed that he won’t feature this weekend as he needs to gain some match fitness and more training sessions under his belt before he returns to first-team action.
The striker hasn’t had the best of seasons in terms of all-round performances (Southampton away aside), but his goals tally is still only second to that of Wayne Rooney’s.
