PICTURE: Manchester United fans & players pay their respects to air disaster

Manchester United’s players and fans both began to land in Germany today, ahead of the most eagerly anticipated game of the season. United are somehow still in the tie, and will have to score in the Allianz Arena if Moyes’ men want any chance of progressing to the semi-final stage.

Although United fans have fond memories of beating the Bavarian’s in 1999, Munich is also remembered by United fans in a sad sense too, as it was the location of the horrific air disaster that decimated Matt Busby’s Babes.

This is a part of our history that is remembered by players and fans alike, and both paid their respects at Manchesterplatz earlier on today, and posed for the photo below.

What a nice touch this was by the United players. Things like this are really what sets us apart from the majority of football clubs worldwide.
