The PFA Awards show took place last night, with Riyad Mahrez and Delle Alli scooping the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year respectively. However there was another award up for grabs, and Ryan Giggs was the recipient.
The Manchester United legend was awarded with the PFA Merit Award for his time at the club, having amassed close to 1000 appearances in a twenty-plus year career at Old Trafford.
Upon receiving the award, Giggs decided to dedicate it to his late grandad.
“When I previously won my Young Player award my granddad was here. He passed away last month. So I’d like to dedicate this to him.”
Who knows what the future holds for Giggsy at Manchester United, but it doesn’t look as though he’ll be taking over as boss any time soon. It’d probably be in his best interests to manage elsewhere for a few years first, to get some experience under his belt.
