Manchester United and Jose Mourinho were seemingly happy taking a point away from a Jurgen Klopp Liverpool side who were bang in form. To be honest, you can hardly blame the Red Devils for being happy with a point, particularly given the toughness of our upcoming fixtures.
The game as a whole was a rather dull affair, and that was down to Mourinho just telling his players to sit back, and now allow themselves to be pressed into mistakes – this plan was executed to perfection by the eleven men who started the game, but two of which deserve special praise.
Antonio Valencia played out of his skin from the right-back spot, and he arguably salvaged a point for United thanks to a simply stunning last-ditch tackle to prevent Liverpool from getting in on goal.
Another man who was truly outstanding, and scooped the Man of the Match award on the day was Ander Herrera. The Spaniard controlled the game which allowed the match to be played at a tempo that suited United.
The pair have been awarded with spots in WhoScored.com’s Team of the Week, alongside David Luiz, David Silva and plenty of others.
