Picture: Manchester United midfielder leaves stadium on crutches

Manchester United Football Club have been dealt a major blow, as Michael Carrick has suspected ligament damage after picking up an injury whilst playing for England. The 34-year old midfielder could be done for the rest of the season.

After the game he was pictured walking with the aid of crutches which is obviously never a good sign. This is one of the reasons why I strongly dislike international friendlies. At the end of the day they are pretty much meaningless and we now could be without a key part of our midfield for the rest of the season.

Hopefully Michael Carrick can remain calm, composed and come back stronger from this, but you do fear the worst as he isn’t getting any younger. Who knows, we could well have seen him turn out in the red shirt for the last time after a slow start to the season.
