Manchester United Football Club put in a commanding display at Old Trafford yesterday – when Jose Mourinho’s men stuck three past Saint-Etienne to take control of the tie. This gives the Red Devils some breathing room ahead of the return leg next Wednesday.
The games are coming thick and fast now, and that’s purely because of our good form in the cup competitions – and we’re still fighting it out on four fronts.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a hat-trick against the Ligue 1 side on Thursday night, and that earned him a place in WhoScored’s Europa League Team of the Week. There was also space for Daley Blind in the XI, who slotted in at left-back rather well.
Ibra’s hat-trick wasn’t the prettiest of things, but at the end of the day, they all count. It began with a free-kick that was deflected off the wall and into the back of the net. The second a tap-in after some brilliant work from Marcus Rashford and the third was from the penalty spot.
Daley Blind has been in and out of the side at left-back this season, but last night was certainly one of his better games. When he was tested by the Saint-Etienne front line, he dealt with it wonderfully and more than took his chance given to him by the manager.
The United duo were joined in the team by former City frontman Edin Dzeko, and Athletic club hotshot, Inaki Williams.
