As we all know, Wayne Rooney’s Manchester United future is still up in the air. The 31-year-old forward had his poorest season in our famous red jersey last year – and eventually, that led to the man from Croxteth being used as a substitute for the most part.
Today, we could have been given another update in the saga, and it comes from Manchester United’s official Facebook page. Goal say that the Old Trafford club have removed the club skipper off of their current cover photo – and basically, they’ve just completely cropped him out as you can see below.

Now this could be nothing and it may well be purely coincidental, but I’m not convinced. Why would a club with the stature of Manchester United just randomly remove one of their key stars from what looks like a promotional photo that is almost a month old?
It may just be me, but social media has become such a good indicator into the future of players and their eventual whereabouts. I’m of the opinion that there is more to this than meets the eye because it just seems so random.
I love Wayne Rooney, but quite frankly, he looked like a broken man this year and it really was sad to see. This is one of the greatest Manchester United players we’ve had the pleasure of watching down the years, but this season, all his ability has deserted him.
For United, the correct business decision would be to move him on but honestly, I struggle to see why any top level club would show an interest in him.
