Manchester United have signed the former Manchester City left-back Reece Devine.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, with the report adding that the 16-year-old will feature in the Red Devils’ U18 squad this coming season.
City had released the defender, but it didn’t take long for United to snap him up. Now Devine will be doing his utmost to force his way into Nicky Butt’s youth squad on a regular basis; although that won’t be easy given the quality we have at that level.

As is always the case when signing young players, you never really know how quickly (or slowly) these guys will develop. Obviously, at just 16, time is massively on Devine’s side.
He’ll progress at his own pace while working with some of the best coaches in the business.
It’s nice to see Jose Mourinho trying to uphold United’s mantras and ideologies where youth are concerned. Make no mistake about it, in a few years, if he’s performing well enough, he could well be involved; just look at how young the pre-season tour squad was, don’t be surprised if one or two of those have forced their way into the full squad.
For now, though, it’s down to Devine to put in the effort and work hard. It’ll be intriguing to see how he develops…
