Manchester United’s season has all boiled down to an FA Cup final this coming Saturday, but before that we have one final league game to complete – at home to Bournemouth under the Old Trafford flood lights. Despite that, our top four hopes are all-but over, and no Champions League football is a real problem.
There have been a few bright sparks in the season however, Anthony Martial, David de Gea and Chris Smalling to name a few, and its always nice to see their efforts rewarded.
In this case, Chris Smalling has been named in WhoScored’s Premier League English XI, and its fair to say he more than deserves his spot.
Its been a funny old eighteen months for Smalling. After getting sent off in the Manchester derby last season, United fans were calling for his head. However since then he has barely put a foot wrong and grown into one of the best central defenders in the country.
He’s now arguably one of the first names on Roy Hodgson’s England team sheet, and its brilliant to see his efforts get recognised on a global level.
