Perhaps Manchester United’s most under the radar transfer of the summer was the move they made for the young defender Regan Poole, an unknown 17-year old centre-half who came from Newport County after making fifteen competitive appearances for the Welsh side.
Yesterday he was spotted training with the Manchester United first-team for the first time, despite yet having the sufficient clearance to play for the club in a competitive match.
Poole has already played for his native Wales at youth level six times, and he doesn’t turn eighteen until next June.
It shows just how highly regarded Poole is at such a tender age, and who knows, with the squad looking quite thin at this point in time he could well make his debut before the end of the season. I for one would like to see him in action in the League Cup, as I don’t know an awful lot about him and his style of play.
