At this stage it certainly looks like a quiet day for Manchester United as far as incomings are concerned.
However, there could be a major player sale, all being well…
The story comes from the Manchester Evening News, who state that Marcos Rojo, along with the United star’s agent, has arrived at Carrington for talks amid interest from Everton.
Everton were interested in Rojo last year but no agreement was reached and out of nowhere Marco Silva has renewed that interest. A potential exit from Old Trafford today is looking increasingly likely.
With United signing Harry Maguire, minutes for Rojo would only further reduce. Injuries have seriously hampered his time at the Theatre of Dreams and there’s only so long the Red Devils can stand by the 29-year-old.
I’d make him sixth choice (at best) in the centre-back pecking order and although he has had a good pre-season, it’s probably best to move him on while he still has some value.
With less than five hours until the deadline, Everton and United will have to move quickly, though all the Red Devils’ focus will be on pushing this move over the line as it doesn’t look like we’ll be signing anyone.
