Manchester United Football Club have helped create some elite footballers over the years, thanks to their brilliant academy. The Red Devils have always been a big believer in youth, and their current work-in-progress is Marcus Rashford.
The striker, 20, enjoyed his best season in Red Devils colours, and now he’s preparing to take part in the World Cup for Gareth Southgate’s England.
In the Three Lions’ final warm-up match last night, it was Rashford who stole the show with an absolutely sensational all-round performance. From the get-go, he was toying with the Costa Rica defenders, utilising his skill and pace brilliantly. The moment of the match came midway through the first-half, when the man from Wythenshawe unleashed an absolute thunderbolt from 35 yards out. The effort dipped superbly into the top corner, leaving Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas helpless.
For that sensational display, Rashford was named the Man of the Match, and rightly so. The United #19 has certainly staked his claim to start in England’s opening game against Tunisia in ten days time, and here’s to hoping that Southgate finds a place for him in the XI.
Congratulations, Marcus! Next stop, Russia!
