Manchester United’s Player of the Year awards ceremony took place last night, with a whole host of individual honours given out to those players who have stood out over the last twelve months. The winner of the Jimmy Murphy U18 Player of the Year comes as no surprise though.
The award was given to Marcus Rashford, and you cannot argue with that decision whatsoever. Since bursting onto the first-team fold back in February, Rashford hasn’t looked back once.
He scored twice on debut, bagged a stunning brace against Arsenal and sent Martin Demichelis into early retirement in the Manchester derby, which is outstanding for a man of just eighteen years of age.
Now he has become undroppable already, and thats testament to just how much he believes in his own ability. However another man who deserves plenty of credit for giving Rashford his big chance is Louis van Gaal. Without the Dutchman, Rashford could well still be playing reserve team football, and the Iron Tulip needs to be praised for that.

Congratulations, Marcus!
