It has been a hugely successful season for Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic.
The midfield man, signed from Chelsea just last summer, has bullied opponents all season long with his physical, combative style. However, we’ve seen a touch of class from the big man, too…
United found themselves 2-0 down away to Crystal Palace, before Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku dragged the Red Devils level. It looked for all the world that Jose Mourinho’s side would have to cope with just a point. Up steps Matic to ping one into the far corner on the half-volley.
For that sublime effort, the man from Serbia has been awarded Manchester United’s Goal of the Season trophy; and it was a richly deserved honour.

It was his only goal of the 2017/18 campaign, but what a memorable way to hit your first for the biggest club in England. It was such a vital goal that could well go on to help seal our place as the second-best team in the Premier League; which is no easy task.
Now, though, we need Matic to continue with the great performances we’ve been seeing, particularly in the FA Cup final against his former club, Chelsea.
