Picture: Odion Ighalo spotted arriving at Carrington for the first time

On transfer deadline day, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identified a numerical weakness in the striker department. An injury to Marcus Rashford meant a replacement had to be acquired on a short-term deal; enter Odion Ighalo.

The former Watford man has signed on a loan move until the season’s end, though it wasn’t without complication. Ighalo would be forced into spending his first two-weeks in England in a sort of quarantine if you will…

After all, the coronavirus came from China, where Ighalo was playing his football before the dream phonecall from United came. Well today, that fortnight hiatus from first-team training is over, with the Nigerian now ready and raring to go.

Thanks to the Daily Mail’s eagle-eyed reporters, who pictured Odion Ighalo spotted arriving at United’s Carrington training ground for the first time.

After video emerged of Ighalo working hard in training, the fans have every reason to feel upbeat about what the Nigerian can bring to the table.

The 30-year-old has the ability to hold the ball up and drag other teammates into play. He is that striker who’ll stay through the middle to give defenders problems rather than drifting out wide or deep ala Rashford and Anthony Martial.

I, for one, can’t wait to see how Ighalo gets on. He’s experienced, hungry and ready to move the club he supports in the right direction. A debut goal against Chelsea would be the perfect start…
