Manchester United head back to Old Trafford this weekend, after a short trip to the Etihad last time out. Crystal Palace are the opponents, and according to reports Louis van Gaal may use this opportunity to test out a few young players. The likes of Paddy McNair, Tyler Blackett and James Wilson could all be in line to feature at some point.
The most likely of the three to start is Paddy McNair. After Marcos Rojo’s injury, McNair was immediately pulled out of the U21 side that lost to Leicester on Monday evening, leading many to believe that he’ll feature from the start.
This morning, The Mirror newspaper ran the story that James Wilson is set to start in favour of an out-of-form Robin van Persie. This is an idea I wouldn’t be wholly against, as it’d be great to see if Wilson can carry his form at youth level through to the first team.
