Manchester United are on a hiatus at the moment, as we have to grin and bare England taking on the likes of San Marino and Estonia. Throughout the break, we’ve been coming up with potential formations for Louis van Gaal’s men, and in this latest instalment we’re testing out this solid looking 4-4-2 diamond formation.
The formation includes the standard back four you’d expect when everyone is fit, and perhaps the shocks come in the midfield and up front. Daley Blind secures the holding midfielder role, with Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick in front of him.
Angel Di Maria takes the #10 spot, allowing him to drift wherever he wants and strike fear into the opposing defences. In front of him is Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao, who’s games should compliment each other well.
Thats means no places for Robin van Persie, Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj. All of which will struggle to get into the team when everyone is fully fit.
