PICTURE: Potential 4-4-2 formation for Man Utd – Rooney in midfield

Manchester United head to West Brom in just six days time now, and Louis van Gaal hopes to have a few of his defensive recruits back at his disposal for his trip to the Black Country. Phil Jones is expected to be available, whereas Angel Di Maria, Marcos Rojo and Radamel Falcao should all be in line to start – despite travelling long distances.

This 4-4-2 formation would work for the time being, and I’d like to point out that there is no Ander Herrera in this XI due to his injury. We need to replace his legs and work rates in midfield, and we’ve gone for Wayne Rooney. Rooney can run all day long, he can track back and tackle, plus he can find that killer pass.

The wide berths are occupied by Angel Di Maria and Adnan Januzaj, who more than deserves a chance to impress Louis van Gaal. Januzaj was the star of the season last year, and given the game time, I reckon he could flourish under our new gaffer.
