PICTURE: Potential 4-4-2 Man Utd vs QPR – Rooney as striker

Manchester United will have been working extra-hard this week, after a shock result last time out at home to Southampton. Louis van Gaal got his tactics all wrong that day, and the fans will certainly be hoping that signals the end of the much-maligned 5-3-2 formation.

Hopefully we’ll revert back to the 4-4-2 diamond that served us so well during that long streak going unbeaten, and with everyone returning to fitness, hopefully this will mean Van Gaal has the right players at his disposal to dos o.

Wayne Rooney will return to a more familiar striker role, and we’ll probably see Radamel Falcao return to action after being left out last time. Juan Mata will continue despite some awful missed chances against Southampton, with Angel di Maria and Michael Carrick backing him up.

Daley Blind will be the back four protector with Smalling and Jones the central defensive partnership. They’ll be flanked by Luke Shaw and Rafael da Silva, and obviously big Dave will continue in goal.
