Manchester United face Everton this weekend, in their toughest task of the season so far. This game will surely a barometer of just how far Louis van Gaal can take this young side this season, with Everton being one of the six sides who managed to finish above United last year. They also did the double over us, so the lads will be looking for revenge this time around.
We’ve been creating different formations and tactics that we could hypothetically use with the players available to us at the moment, and as you can see below this formation reverts back to the 5-3-2 system – giving us more defensive stability.
Young Paddy McNair retains his place after a superb performance, and he sits alongside fellow youth graduate Tyler Blackett and Marcos Rojo. I believe that Rafael and Luke Shaw are both tailor-made for the wingback role, with Darren Fletcher and Daley Blind just sitting in front of the back line and protecting them, letting Di Maria, Falcao and Robin van Persie run riot.
