Well, after what feels like a long wait, Raphael Varane is finally undergoing his Man United medical.
Earlier today, we covered a claim from The Telegraph, who stated that Varane was set to undergo the first part of his medical tests today.
That news has since confirmed to be true by the Manchester Evening News. Their eagle-eyed reporters managed to get a snap of Varane arriving at Carrington for that medical just a few moments ago.
The Frenchman had been in a five-day quarantine due to COVID protocols here in the United Kingdom. Obviously, that period of isolation is now free – meaning Varane’s move to Old Trafford can now be finalised.
Check out the snap of Varane arriving for his medical here:
It’s expected that Varane will sign his contract tomorrow morning, before taking part in the traditional photoshoot, ahead of hopefully training with his new teammates on Wednesday also.
Varane himself is eager to get out there on the training field, to give himself the best chance at being selected for our Premier League opener against Leeds United.
At this moment, though, you’d imagine Varane will be given a spot on the bench as opposed to being involved in the starting line-up.
United have until lunchtime on Friday to get Varane registered as a Red Devil to have the possibility of using their new signing against our bitter rivals on Saturday at 12:30.
For the player, it’s now about getting stuck in during training and looking to build up those fitness levels as soon as possible. The fact that Varane’s car has been pictured arriving for his medical makes this one very real – and I’m supremely excited to have him on the books at Old Trafford.
