Manchester United Football Club are currently on hiatus due to *that* pandemic which is currently dominating media headlines all over the world.
Who knows when football will return? But here at Old Trafford Faithful, we’re trying to remain positive and keep the good (United) news flowing.
Although we’re largely covering transfer stories during this time, WhoScored offered us welcome relief. They’ve released their top rated English XI from Europe’s top-five leagues during the 2019/20 term – with two United players included.
First up, we have defender Harry Maguire. Slabhead comes in with a 7.12 rating, which no doubt has drastically improved as the season has progressed.
His form over the last couple of months, since being handed the arm-band, has been nothing short of superb. Blocks, headers, interceptions and making driving runs forward. Maguire has been the captain we’ve been craving for years.
Then you have Marcus Rashford. This one is bittersweet due to that serious back injury which he suffered, though before picking up that problem, the Wythenshawe-born-forward was enjoying the best campaign of his career.
Rashford was given a 7.34 rating, which puts him ahead of Harry Kane in WhoScored’s scoring system.
Jack Grealish and James Maddison were also both in the team, who knows, perhaps one of them could be calling Old Trafford home next season…
