Picture: Scott McTominay back in training ahead of Club Brugge game

Manchester United Football Club return to Europa League action on Thursday night, with the Red Devils heading to Belgium to take on Club Brugge in the last 32.

Continental competition was pretty good for the Old Trafford club before the turn of the year, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now seeing it as an excellent opportunity to force their way into next season’s Champions League – provided they win the whole thing of course…

Anyway, ahead of the Brugge game, United have been given a big injury boost, with key man Scott McTominay back out there in training as he gears up for a return to the first-team fold.

It’s easy to forget just how unbelievably good McTominay was before he went down with injury. The young Scot was playing at a high level and for my money, he was the frontrunner to win the Red Devils’ player of the Season award before picking up the issue in Boxing Day.

To have him back in training is massive, though he hasn’t played in almost two months so United have to be patient and allow him the time to return at his own pace. The worst thing the club could do is rush him back early, then lose him for the season’s remainder.

Anyway for now, it’s a great sight to see McTominay back out there. Hopefully, he’s feeling good and working hard to make himself available for selection once again.
