Manchester United have been without Scott McTominay since boxing day, with the Red Devils midfielder suffering a knee injury during a 4-1 victory over Newcastle United.

We covered a story in which it was claimed the midfielder would be out for about two months, which was a major blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – particularly as the 20-time Premier League winners were already looking light in the middle of the park.

Today, the Daily Mirror pictured McTominay on crutches, as the 22-year-old continues his injury rehab. This doesn’t look good…

As we know all too well, ligament damage isn’t to be messed with. In serious cases, it can rule players out for up to a year depending on the severity. No doubt Solskjaer has everything crossed that this isn’t the case here.

McTominay has arguably been United’s Player of the Season due to the consistency in which he has performed with, though this setback will probably rule him out of that one which is a massive shame.

For the Scotland international, it’s now about keeping mentally strong and slowly but surely working his way back to full fitness. Hopefully, we see him return on schedule (around March), but the image above certainly doesn’t offer us hope…
