Somewhat remarkably, Manchester United have won three away games on the bounce – after not winning on the road since March.
Match-on-match, the fixtures have been getting gradually tougher. Thankfully for United, our performance-levels have stepped up game-on-game, too…
The Red Devils are slowly but surely getting their confidence back, though the game against Chelsea was easily the best display so far. United did what they wanted to do – contain the home side and play on the counter.
An incredible goal from Marcus Rashford booked United’s place into the quarter-final, though it was the incredibly passionate celebration from Scott McTominay that got us all talking. He shows just how much the win vs Chelsea means to him, and at the end of the day, he’s a fan just like all of us.
Honestly, this is all us fans ask for. As long as you’re giving 100% for that badge on your chest, we can take losing. Of late, it feels like some players haven’t been giving their all. However, McTominay has always been the standard-bearer since breaking through into the first-team.
Last night was more of the same. Despite playing 80 minutes with a yellow card next to his name, the 22-year-old simply didn’t put a foot wrong from that point forward.
As he continues to grow, it’s time to recognise just what an important cog in the Red Devils machine that McTominay is. What’s best about it is that he’s one of us!
