Picture: Sir Alex Ferguson travelling with Man United squad for Europa League final

This is not a drill. Sir Alex Ferguson is amongst the travelling party for Manchester United’s Europa League final vs Villareal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United play the biggest game under his tenure tomorrow; the Europa League final against an excellent Villareal side.

The game itself will be a hard-fought contest, during which United will have to be on their A-game if they want to come out on top. Ahead of the fixture, we covered the 26-man squad Solskjaer has named for the clash.

However, there’s a very special guest also travelling with the squad for the Europa League final in Gdansk; Sir Alex Ferguson. I’ve also spotted David Gill aboard the plane, too, with United really kicking it back old-school for this one.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is what makes this club so special. The United family is such a real thing and I absolutely love this touch by the club, giving Sir Alex the opportunity to be at another final.

No doubt the boss will have a few words of wisdom for the lads ahead of the big kick-off. And if that can’t motivate these guys, then I’m not sure what can?

We’re talking about the best to ever do it. What he went through in regards to his health a few years ago was extremely scary and no doubt he’ll cherish these next few days. It’ll also bring a fair few great memories flooding back, which is what this sport is all about.

At this point, I’m just ready for the game to get underway. Winning this trophy is the perfect way to show that progress is being made by Solskjaer at United. It really is make or break for this season.
