PICTURE: Sir Alex vs David Moyes

David Moyes has endured a rocky start to his Manchester United career, and some fans have lost patience with the 50-year old Scot already. However many forget that the man he replaced was probably the best manager of all time; Who can live up to that?

Many expected some form of transitional period, but I personally didn’t think it’d be quite this bad. United sit seventh in the league, out of the FA Cup and find themselves a goal down heading into the second leg of the Capital One Cup. His only real joy has come in Europe so far this year. You cannot help but feel that Sir Alex Ferguson and the board have really shafted Moyes though, they’ve left him with a poor squad, and didn’t really give him a chance to improve on that in the summer.

The stats below show that Moyes actually has made a far better start to his Manchester United career than Sir Alex did, albeit in very different circumstances. Moyes inherited a title winning team, Sir Alex didn’t.
