Picture: Sole Man United player named in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week

Manchester United continue to churn out utter dross performances in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

Wolverhampton Wanderers at home was another fixture that we could have easily lost. The visitors were by far the better team. Heck, without David de Gea, it could have been a completely different story.

It’s not often you see United players in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week following the dropping of points at home. This time around, it was different. Our Spaniard more than deserves his place in the XI.

De Gea has the best save percentage out of any goalkeeper in the Premier League this season (78%). Be it with his feet or hands, the best goalkeeper in the business is still doing what he does best.

He deserves even more credit after the whole Real Madrid transfer debacle. Not once has he moaned, instead, he has continued to work hard, making save-after-save – without any real reward.

It’s absolutely vital that United get him tied down to a new contract as soon as possible. I dread to think where we’d be without him, but please, let’s make this a season where he isn’t the Clu’s Player of the Year, eh?
