Manchester United’s poor spell continues as the Red Devils dropped more Premier league points; this time away at Southampton, who are currently battling relegation. I think it’s telling that the Saints have since sacked manager Mark Hughes, I guess that’s what happens when you drop points to this struggling United team…
Anyway, all-around it was another dull display. However, there was one standout performer, and I’m glad that his efforts were recognised in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week. Now, Crooks was less than friendly towards Jose Mourinho for his treatment of the young Englishman, but we’ll get into that later…
Rashford had been struggling for confidence this season, which was baffling to United fans because every time he pulled on that Three Lions jersey he looked absolutely electric. Now, though, it looks as though he is finding his feet once again.
During the game, the Wythenshawe-born-forward was United’s best attacking option. He looked to get in behind with his pace, his passing was on point and the effort was there for all to see. Rashford finished the match with two brilliant assists, and then Mourinho did what Mourinho does – he subbed him off when his confidence was probably at its highest…
