Picture: Solskjaer surfer flag set to be in Stretford End vs Arsenal

Manchester United are set to let Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he’s still loved vs Arsenal.

It has been a crazy week for Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lost his job, while a new manager was appointed yesterday in the form of Ralf Rangnick.

Everything about the departure of the Baby Faced Assassin hurt. Purely because he loves this club just as much as me and you. Sadly, his best work in the dugout just wasn’t good enough – but that doesn’t change how we all feel about Solskjaer.

From the exit interview to the signing of a fans’ shirt on his way out of Carrington the day he was relieved of his duties, Solskjaer has gone about it in the classiest way.

Now, United are set to pay one final, fitting tribute to Solskjaer’s tenure as manager. His ’20LEGEND’ surfer flag is now set to be in the Stretford End on Thursday, when United take on Arsenal in a game that could be Rangnick’s first in the dugout.

I honestly love this idea. It’s a bittersweet time for Solskjaer. Obviously being sacked is never nice but to know that the club still cares about him just as much is nice.

The fans will no doubt sing his songs while the legacy he leaves behind is a positive one. This squad is in far better shape now than it was when he took over – and we’ll forever be thankful for that.

It’s just a massive shame that we couldn’t get over the line in that Europa League final last year. Perhaps things could have been different if we’d have lifted that trophy. The work Solskjaer did for this club deserved at least one piece of silverware – and that’ll undoubtedly be his biggest regret.
