Manchester United’s Juan Mata has always been a patriotic man, and perhaps last night gave him the proudest moment of his professional career as he was handed the Spain captaincy from his Premier League teammate Cesc Fabregas, after coming off the bench.
The 26-year old attacking midfielder is enjoying a fantastic season for his club, and seems to be at the heart of everything good for Manchester United at the moment.
After making the £37million move to Manchester United, Juan Mata has immediately become a fan favourite amongst the terraces for a number of reasons. He plays with his heart on his sleeve and from minute one he seemed to care about the club and its rich history.
There is no doubting that this honour will only further his confidence, and he’ll certainly need to be at his best if Manchester United are to get anything from the tough game at Everton away this weekend.
